Catholic, Lutheran and PMSA schools – collective bargaining needed more than ever

negotiations_web_qual.pngDespite the challenges posed by COVID-19 in schools, our union remains committed to developing new and updated collective agreements.

While COVID-19 health and educational issues have led to delays in recent bargaining timeframes, current uncertainties mean that we need collective agreement protections of our wages and conditions now more than ever.

Queensland Catholic ballot – final employer draft remains outstanding

Our union continues to assist Catholic employers with the drafting of the final agreement for ballot.

While the drafting process continues, Catholic employer representatives have been unable to commit to a clear ballot timeframe.

Updated draft clauses have been exchanged this week as we seek to confirm that the employers’ agreement accurately reflects all of the agreed positions.

We have also sought a meeting with the employers for Tuesday, 19 May 2020 in order to progress the finalisation of the document.

A number of concerns remain with the employers’ position in relation to spousal leave, split shifts for services staff and boarding supervisor arrangements.

Further details and summaries of the negotiated positions are available here

Queensland Lutheran negotiations must resume as soon as possible

Members in Queensland Lutheran schools sent a clear message to their employer at the end of Term 1 – return to the bargaining table without the agenda to cut, control and constrain conditions.

Our union is seeking the urgent resumption of negotiations with Queensland Lutheran Education (LEQ).

The Lutheran employer team has confirmed they will be available for a Single Bargaining Unit on Thursday 21 May 2020.

LEQ needs to return to the bargaining table to ready to talk about the endorsed employee bargaining issues.

A range of critical employee claims including workload interventions, school officer conditions, updated PAR arrangements and wage outcomes remain outstanding.

Members in PMSA schools finalise bargaining preparations

IEU Chapters in Queensland Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association (PMSA) schools are this week finalising their bargaining claim.

Members are due to provide their final response to the draft Log of Claims by this Friday, 15 May 2020.

The draft claim, based on initial member feedback and survey responses, includes a range of matters relating to remuneration, family-friendly practices, measures to tackle workload and updated school officer conditions.

It is anticipated that initial bargaining meetings will be held with PMSA employer representatives later this term.
