100 years, 100 activists: Branches mark our union's centenary
Our union’s centenary celebrations are in full swing with events held in the North Queensland, Far North Queensland, Mackay and Central Queensland Branches this month.
Further events will be held in the Greater Brisbane Metropolitan area, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay, Darling Downs, Gold Coast and Northern Territory Branches across Terms 3 and 4. Click here to RSVP for any of these upcoming Branch events.
IEUA-QNT Branch Secretary Terry Burke said the Branch events were an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on our achievements as a union over the past 100 years.
“It’s not too often that we are drawn together for an occasion like this,” Mr Burke said.
“In attending a number of the recent Branch events, I found them a great moment to both reminisce with members about our history, but also to re-energise our union for the future.”
Mr Burke said the Branch events also allowed our union to recognise members who have made a significant contribution over the past 100 years.
“We’re recognising 100 activists for our 100 years and, without a doubt, we would not be the union we are today without those members who have showed strength and resilience in pursuing fairer workplaces for all in the non-government sector.”
Mr Burke encouraged all members to attend their upcoming Branch celebrations.
