Yarning Up set to start again in 2018

Yarning_Up_at_The_Murri_School_in_April2015.jpgIEUA-QNT is proud to support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members and, in 2017, will continue to host regular Yarning Up sessions.

Held once each term, Yarning Up provides an opportunity to discuss issues that affect the work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members in schools.

Teachers, school officers and support staff are welcome to attend the events.

Member of IEUA-QNT’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working group Aunty Thersa Nunn said Yarning Up brought members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in an education context, to discuss education and the future of our sector.

“The Yarning Up events also provide an opportunity to keep in touch with members from other schools,” Aunty Thersa said.

Dates for remaining 2018 Yarning Up sessions are:

  • Thursday 7 June
  • Thursday 23 August
  • Thursday 1 November

Members who are interested in hosting a Yarning Up session at their school are encouraged to contact Adele Schmidt by telephone on FREECALL 1800 177 937 or via e-mail at aschmidt@qieu.asn.au
