Celebrating careers that matter

St_Marys_College.jpgOn 14 June our union celebrated School Officer Day as part of an international day of recognition – International Education Support Staff Day.

On the day, Chapters shared their appreciation and recognition of school support staff with morning tea celebrations and messages sharing the theme #CAREERSTHATMATTER.

IEUA-QNT understands that school officers are fundamental to the smooth and successful operation of our schools.

Their diverse work encompasses all manner of roles from ground maintenance to administration and student support and supervision.

This international celebration is the result of the endorsement of a resolution at the 2015

Education International (EI) World Congress to create a worldwide day recognising the significant contribution School Officers make to quality education in our schools. The day is also a time to acknowledge the important role of Services Staff in our school communities.

This year we once again celebrated alongside our colleague IEUA branches across the country as well as the New Zealand Educational Institute (NZEI) TE RIU ROA.
