Yarning Circle to take shape in 2017

RAP_workshop.pngThe Yarning Circle will hold its first meeting of 2017 on 23 February at the Hymba Yumba Community Hub (6 Springfield Pkway, Springfield, QLD 4300) from 4-6pm.

The circle supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members by providing a forum to discuss and take action on workplace and school issues.

Held once each term, the Yarning Up events provide an opportunity to discuss issues that affect our work in schools. The sessions are not just for teachers; school officers and other support staff are welcome.

The first Yarning Up session for 2017 will be held from 4:00pm – 6:00pm on Thursday 23rd February at Hymba Yumba Community Hub at 6 Springfield Pkwy, Springfield QLD 4300.

Our union is proud to support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members and, in 2017, will continue to host regular Yarning Up sessions at a variety of locations throughout Brisbane.

Dates for remaining 2017 Yarning Up sessions are:
  • Thursday 25th May
  • Thursday 17th August
  • Thursday 26th October

Members who are interested in hosting a Yarning Up session at their school are encouraged to contact Adele Schmidt by telephone on 3839 7020, or via e-mail at aschmidt@qieu.asn.au.
