Supply teaching: a pathway to full-time employment

Topics : GraduatesTeachers

supply.pngGraduates who experience difficulty securing full-time employment after finishing university may decide to seek supply teaching.

Supply work can be the first step towards establishing professional contacts and securing ongoing employment.

Supply teaching changes every day – and as a consequence – you learn to be flexible and adaptable.

Finding supply work can be challenging. Contacting the major employers in the sector and providing your CV to local schools in your area can help you secure that first day of supply work, and get you a foot in the door.

Like any other education professional, supply teachers should ensure they have professional representation, legal protection and insurance cover, should an employment issue arise or incident occur.

Maintaining your IEUA-QNT membership is the best way to ensure that you are protected.

Our union offers a reduced membership rate for supply teachers. From as little as $7.55 a fortnight, you can receive support and protection wherever you teach.
