Employees in the Vocational Education & Training (VET) sector are dealing with workload pressures and massive uncertainty as the Federal Government pushes through funding changes without thought for its impact on both teaching and administrative staff.
An out of touch Federal Government has set up an ombudsman to oversee impacts on students while hundreds of staff have been made redundant due to the changes.
While employees are aware of the difficult position their employers have been put in as a result of the Federal Government’s funding changes, they are calling on their employers to undertake proper consultation about workplace changes before decisions are made and show employees respect by providing professional pay and conditions.
