Art Design Awards and Literary Competition

Our union's annual Awards for Excellence in Art Design and Literary Competition help to recognise and encourage the artistic and literary talents of Queensland and Northern Territory students and teachers.

Excellence in Art Design Awards

The theme for the 2018 Art Design Awards is Nature, drawing inspiration from the Aristotle quote, "In all things of nature there is something of the marvellous".

The Art Design Awards are open to preschool, primary and secondary school students and teachers in independent schools throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory.

In 2017, our union has established a new category, Indigenous Art Years 5-12 to promote and celebrate the talents of Indigenous students.

Key dates

Entries to the 2018 Awards for Excellence in Art Design close on Friday, 27 July 2018.

Winning entrants will be notified following the conclusion of judging ahead of an Exhibition and Award Presentation Evening to be held on Wednesday, 5 September 2018 at the Queensland Multicultural Centre, Kangaroo Point.

In addition to their work being publicly exhibited, award recipients will receive a range of cash prizes.

Award Ceremony Presenter

Kylie_Farrelly.jpgKylie Farrelly will present the 2018 Awards for Excellence in Art Design at the ceremony on 5 September 2018.

Kylie has a Diploma of Education - Secondary Art and Bachelor of Education. She taught for 8 years, but found her true passion after having children and then having the time to follow her dreams and create full time.

She has been painting professionally for 15 years and exhibiting regularly in that time. She continues to teach art to all ages from 5 to 85 and is always inspired by what her students create and the energy and enthusiasm they have to learn and find their own artistic path.
