World Teachers' Day
World Teachers’ Day
On Friday 30 October 2020, our union will celebrate World Teachers’ Day in Queensland.
Everyday teachers are making a positive difference – creating opportunities for their students, empowering minds of young people and proudly teaching our state’s future leaders, innovators and influencers.
World Teachers’ Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate to celebrate and thank teachers for the important role they play in the learning journey of students.
Celebrated in more than 100 countries world-wide, World Teachers’ Day was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in 1994 to recognise the role of teachers in society.
IEUA-QNT Chapters are encouraged to celebrate World Teachers’ Day on Friday, 30 October by undertaking a number of activities:
- Hold a special World Teachers’ Day Chapter celebration. Visit www.worldteachersday.com.au to access a range of resources and information to assist in your planning. Please email any high resolution photographs of your celebrations to firstname.lastname@example.org for inclusion in our journal, online publications and social media;
- Make a collective donation as a Chapter to help assist the ongoing work of Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA as they support our colleague unionists in the developing world; and
- Invite non-members to join our collective in order to strengthen our professional voice at your school.
Don’t forget to use #WTDQLD and tag us on Facebook and Twitter to let us know how you’re celebrating!
