Following the release of the Flexible Learning Centres (FLC) Review Joint Working Party Report, 90% of IEUA-QNT members endorsed the outcomes for implementation next year. Our union is now working with employers to facilitate implementation of these outcomes.

The review of working arrangements for staff in the 17 Catholic Flexible Learning Centres (FLCs) has now concluded with members endorsing a range of changes for implementation in 2018.
The review, undertaken by employee and employer representatives over the course of 2017, resolved a number of agreed outcomes that were subsequently endorsed by 90% of members at a ballot.
While not addressing all issues identified by members, the campaign to develop unique arrangements to better fit FLC workplaces resulted in updated positions on:
- Meal breaks and rest pauses.
- Work related travel time.
- Planning and collaboration time for teachers.
- Christmas closedown arrangements for school officers.
- Positions of leadership.
- Youth Worker classifications.
The final agreed positions include a review of Youth Worker Classification levels to ensure accurate classification and pay rates, as well as a long-term commitment to update the classification matrix to include a specific classification stream for Youth Workers.
This is a vital step towards ensuring Youth Workers’ contributions are acknowledged appropriately.

A review of working arrangements in Catholic Flexible Learning Centres (FLC) took place in 2017 as an important outcome of the recent collective bargaining campaign in Queensland Catholic schools. The review provided members with the opportunity to shape work conditions to fit the unique roles undertaken by FLC staff.
The collective agreement set out the working arrangements to be considered in the review including middle and senior leader structures, teaching and learning issues, workplace flexibility and school officer classifications.
