IEUA-QNT Centenary Celebrations - 100 Years Union Strong
In 2019, our union celebrates 100 years of providing security, protection and better working conditions for education professionals in the non-government sector.
As we celebrate our centenary as a strong collective, we acknowledge the hard-fought battles and campaigns of previous generations of IEUA-QNT members.
Thanks to the sacrifice and determination of these members, we have won many significant working rights over the last 100 years!

Through your IEUA-QNT membership in 2019, you are part of the 100 year legacy of our union.
Since our origin as an antecedent union in 1919, collectively we have represented with persistence and dedication, the industrial and professional interests of our members across Queensland and, more recently, the Northern Territory.
In doing so we have made, and continue to make, a difference and change the lives of our members for the better each and every day.
From securing equal pay for women in Catholic primary schools in the 1970s to recently setting a wage benchmark of $101K for the majority of nongovernment sector classroom teachers – our union creates positive change for teachers, school support staff, students and our school communities.
The fact that as a union we have been able to achieve the significant outcomes that we have is a testament to our capacities, to our resilience and to your commitment.
This year I look forward to celebrating with you our achievements as a union over the last 100 years and preparing for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead of us.
Together we are stronger.
