On Thursday, 19 August 2010 the Head of Sunshine Coast Grammar School sent 21 staff an email requesting their attendance at a 'briefing' session on Friday, 20 August 2010.

At this briefing session the following day, the Head of the School read a prepared statement that announced a staff restructure was taking place and the 21 staff positions had been redistributed and some even abolished.

The 21 staff were handed a letter and the Headmaster exited before the group of staff had the opportunity to direct any questions to Sunshine Coast Grammar School.

These staff subject to the restructure are now facing redundancy, with no assurances of a job past 2010.

The complete lack of engagement with staff at Sunshine Coast Grammar School has demonstrated the lack of respect the Head of the School has for the staff and for the outstanding contribution they have made to the quality reputation of Sunshine Coast Grammar School.

Our union and our 15,000 members across Queensland and the Northern Territory will not see the lives and the employment of 21 school staff and high quality education at Sunshine Coast Grammar School put at risk.
