POLICY 96.02

QIEU policy regarding students with special needs is as follows:

The placement of students with disabilities must take place within a process which:

• ensures the most appropriate placement of the student
• takes note of the professional judgement of teachers and other professionals
• involves the parents and takes note of their wishes
• takes note of the needs of all students in any educational setting
• ensures the provision of resources appropriate to the needs of the student.

Such a process should acknowledge that the placement of students depends on a number of factors, and is not purely a matter of individual parent decision.
