Branch Meetings and Member Training

 Branches provide QIEU members with an opportunity to actively participate in the decision making process of our union by providing a direct link to QIEU Council. More importantly, the Branch is a way for members to seek support of other members. By networking through the schools, members share concerns, assist in problem solving and become more informed about the issues affecting them. “To be an effective union for all members and potential members, our union must be driven by the grass roots membership,” Bayside Branch Representative to Council, Ian Stevenson.

There are 15 QIEU Branches across our state that each provide opportunities for members in that region to meet and discuss relevant issues affecting their working conditions. Each of these Branches has three members elected as a local executive who are able to identify issues of concern to members in each region. One of these members is the elected Branch representative who can convey issues and information to QIEU Council. Together with the 14 general members elected from the total QIEU membership, these 15 Branch representatives make up our Union Council
