Maternity, Paternity and Parental Leave: Strong National System Required
The IEUA strongly supports establishing “a national system of paid support for the primary care giver funded by government and employers", according to the union's submission to the Productivity Commission Inquiry into Paid Maternity, Paternity and Parental Leave.
While noting the current International Labour Organisation standard for a minimum of 14 weeks, the IEUA believes that a longer period of leave is more appropriate and supports six months (26 weeks) of paid leave.
